Overhead Crane Project Introduction of Pipe-Making Plant

Since 2016, Ethiopia economy has been developing rapidly, the government support lots industries to establish their new workshops, so Mr Ashenafi built three new warehouses for pipe making. We Dongqi Group contacted Mr Ashenafi from the beginning of January, 2016, after learning the crane needs of pipe-making warehouse, our sales director Mr Oscar was responsible for giving below solutions:

Crane Installation Engineer Reached to Ethiopia

On 8th May, Our technical team visited our Ethiopia customer Pipe-Making Plant, for installation and commission of 6 sets 10 ton double girder overhead crane, which is shipped and arrived customer’s plant last year, on that day Mr Ashenafi arrange people to pick Mr Chen up at the airport.

Preparation before Overhead Crane Installation

On the second day after arrival, Mr Wei request to go to warehouse to check all the overhead crane girders, boxes, electrics boxes, beams and rails and other crane spare parts which could ensure all crane parts are ready, then Mr Chen had a meeting with Mr Ashenafi and his team, Mr Wei told them to prepare related overhead crane installation tools, such as mobile crane, welding machine, screwdriver, forklift, lever etc, and how many people it will need to ensure the overhead crane installation process operate smoothly.

10 Ton Overhead Crane Installation Process

The 6 sets overhead crane will be used in three warehouse:

• Firstly Mr Chen arrange one small team to lifting the beam, rails on the brackets, then welding them well;
• Secondly Mr Chen adjust the rail centers distance to ensure the overhead cranes can be settled well;
• Thirdly, Mr Chen arrange forklift driver to assemble these crane girders together, then asked mobile driver to lift the girders on crane rails well. After that, lifting the hoist trolley on the two main girders; at last Mr Chen connect the electrical cables in person to ensure the cables connections everything goes well.

Until 31th May, 5 sets overhead crane installation have been finished well, the other set will need extra 3 days, after that, Mr Chen will arrange the heavy load to commission the crane and adjust the working stability. After all installation and commission finished, he will teach the workers how to operate and maintain these overhead cranes, everything goes smoothly during the overhead crane installation, commissioning and inspection.

What are the precautions for the overhead crane installation process?

Hoisting machinery is a special type of equipment and has a high degree of danger. Therefore, in the installation of cranes, safety work is particularly important. Special attention must be paid to the following aspects:

• Most of the cranes are mechanical devices with large structures and complicated structures. Usually, it is difficult to transport the entire crane. It is often the entire assembly of the equipment that is transported to the site of use. Therefore, it must be properly installed to reflect the overall eligibility of the crane in order to verify the integrity and integrity of the crane.
• The overhead crane is to be operated on the track of the use site or the building. Therefore, for the operational track or the installation foundation, and whether the crane itself can work well with each other, whether the operation is adaptable and whether it can meet the strict requirements for use, it must be concluded through proper installation and commissioning and inspection after installation.
• The safety requirements of cranes are extremely high, and the safety devices must be perfect and installed correctly to achieve reliable, flexible, and accurate technical requirements.
• According to the importance of crane safety work, in order to enable the crane to meet the operational requirements of various loads after being put into use, the crane must be tested for no-load, full-load, and overload static load and dynamic load in accordance with regulations. However, these tests must be carried out in the operating state or in a certain stationary state of the crane mechanism. This requires the use of a load test after the crane has been installed.
• The overhead crane's wire ropes and other flexible parts and many other parts will undergo some elongation, deformation, looseness, etc. after the initial load. This also requires repairs, adjustments, handling, and tightening after the crane has been mounted and the load has been tested. Therefore, it is necessary to do a series of work such as crane installation, commissioning, and speed control to ensure safe and normal use of the crane in the future.
