A contract for three process cranes to be used in a South African mine has been awarded by ThyssenKrupp group’s material handling business unit.
Demag Cranes AG will build the three 80t ZKKW double girder overhead crane installations at ThyssenKrupp’s factory in Slany, Czech Republic, from where they will be shipped to copper mines in Zambia.
The cranes will be used for maintenance and repair work on semi-mobile crushers that will also be fitted to the crane runway.
Demag Cranes executive vice president Lars Brzoska said: “The international structure of Demag Cranes played a decisive role in the award of the contract.
“Thanks to our regional subsidiary in South Africa, we are also able to provide our customers there with the same high level of service quality and short response times.
The process cranes are scheduled for delivery at the end of this year.
