Dongqi Crane will share a crane case that happened in Denmark today. A Danish crane supplier has delivered its largest-ever crane to a wind turbine supplier operating out of the Lindø industrial park near Odense, Denmark. The crane has a lifting capacity of 140 tons and uses French crane components. It is specially used to assist the Lindø Industrial Park in hoisting heavy and complex wind power components. This crane is a bridge crane.
As a global crane supplier, Dongqi Crane can provide bridge cranes for various industries. As a part of the manufacturing industry, wind turbine manufacturing plants have certain needs for bridge cranes. By sharing this case with customers, Dongqi Crane not only increases its experience in the application of overhead cranes in different environments, but also hopes to obtain cooperation opportunities with customers with similar needs.
Customized bridge crane for wind turbine manufacturing plant
Danish Crane Manufacturing, headquartered in Nieber, Denmark, offers overhead cranes, jib cranes, wire rope hoists, chain hoists and gantry cranes as part of an extensive standard range.
The Danish crane manufacturing company claims it has global level expertise in the manufacture of nacelle cranes developed for shipyards around the world, as well as robotic cranes for power plants, waste incineration, dairy plants and more.
The company believes it is one of the only companies in Denmark with facilities capable of designing, planning and manufacturing overhead cranes entirely in-house.
The unit is designed to handle specific heavy-duty components and was made possible by a collaboration between a French crane manufacturer and a Danish crane manufacturer.
Due to the heavy requirements and complexity of the project, the two companies collaborated to develop equipment suitable for the job.
Kristen Jensen, technical director of Danish Crane Building, explains the use of the heavy-duty overhead crane, which will produce wind farm components at the Lyndao Industrial Park and ship them around the world.
“The scale of the wind farms currently being developed requires production and transportation facilities on a global scale. These facilities are already located at Lindao Industrial Park and the delivery of the new cranes further expands the already impressive production capacity of the industrial park,” said Jensen. The rapidly growing wind power industry increasingly requires components that are much larger than before. The facility has double its original capacity, Jensen said.
“We doubled the total lifting capacity of the building where the crane is installed.”
The load of the crane provided was so heavy that changes had to be made to the structure of the building housing it.
“The upgrade required strengthening the building structure, and these issues were resolved in close collaboration with the crane experts at Crane Building in Denmark. The end result was a robust solution that met the client’s expectations,” said Jensen.
The new heavy-duty overhead crane at Lindao Industrial Park has a total weight of more than 75 tons, including pulleys, drive gears, steering gear and all components.
Excluding pulleys and other lifting devices, the installation weight is only over 50 tons.
Overhead cranes of this weight and size are primarily manufactured for large power plants and heavy industry where extremely heavy modular equipment such as generators need to be lifted.
The company said the Danish electricity market for heavy-duty overhead cranes is a relatively modest one, although one with significant future growth potential.
“Our lifting capacity has now increased to 250 tonnes, with single spans up to 40m.”
