Morocco Crane Market Study 2022

 The Moroccan crane market shrank significantly to $X in 2020, down -X% compared to the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenue of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs and retailers’ profits, which will be included in the final consumer price). Overall, however, consumption continued to show a sharp downward trend. The most significant growth rate occurred in 2016, with a year-on-year increase of X%. During the period under review, the market peaked at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, consumption has been at lower levels.

Morocco Crane Export Scale

In 2020, after three years of growth, overseas shipments of cranes, mobile hoisting frames decreased significantly, and its sales fell -X% to X units. Overall, however, exports have seen strong growth. The most significant growth rate occurred in 2018, with an X% year-over-year increase. During the period under review, exports peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports failed to regain momentum.

In terms of value, crane exports dropped significantly to $X in 2020. However, exports continued to show strong growth during the period under review. The growth rate was most pronounced in 2019, with a year-on-year increase of X%. As a result, exports peaked at $X before shrinking rapidly the following year.

Portugal (X units) was the main destination for Moroccan crane exports, accounting for X% of total exports. In addition, more than twice as many cranes were exported to Portugal as to the second major destination, Djibouti (X units). Côte d’Ivoire (X units) occupies the third position in the ranking with an X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of shipments to Portugal reached +X%. Exports to other major destinations recorded the following average annual export growth rates: Djibouti (+X% per annum) and Côte d’Ivoire (+X% per annum).

The largest crane markets by value from Morocco are Portugal ($X), Djibouti ($X) and Cameroon ($X), accounting for X% of total exports. In terms of major destination countries, Cameroon (+X% per annum) had the highest export value growth during the period under review, while other countries experienced more moderate export growth.

In 2020, Morocco imports of cranes, mobile cranes decreased to X units, a decrease of -X% compared to 2019 figures. During the period under review, imports fell sharply. The most significant growth rate occurred in 2019, with an X% increase compared to the previous year. During the period under review, imports peaked at X units in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, imports failed to regain momentum.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of sales in Spain was +X%. The average annual growth rates of imports for the remaining suppliers are as follows: Thailand (X% per annum) and Poland (+X% per annum).

Morocco’s largest crane suppliers by value are Spain ($X), Italy ($X) and Thailand ($X), which together account for X% of total imports. This is followed by Poland and France, which recorded a new record X growth rate in import value (+X% per annum) in terms of key suppliers during the review period, while the other leaders experienced more moderate growth pace.

Morocco’s largest crane suppliers by value are Spain, Italy and Thailand, which together account for 57% of total imports. Poland and France are slightly behind, with a combined share of 16%.

Portugal, Djibouti and Cameroon are Morocco’s largest crane markets globally by value, together accounting for 62% of total exports.

In 2020, the average export price of cranes was USD 2,084 per unit, a decrease of -38.9% from the previous year.

The average price of crane imports in 2020 was $4,089 per unit, down -31.5% from the previous year.
