Uruguay Crane Market Study 2022

 The Uruguay crane market rapidly shrank to $X in 2020, down -X% from the previous year. Overall, however, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The rate of growth was most pronounced in 2017, when market cap increased by X% year-over-year. During the period under review, the market hit an all-time high of $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, consumption was at a lower level.

Argentina (X units) was the main destination for Uruguay crane exports, accounting for X% of total exports. In addition, the number of cranes exported to Argentina exceeded four times the number exported to Chile (X units), the second main destination.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of freight volumes to Argentina was relatively modest. Exports to other major destinations recorded the following average annual export growth rates: Chile (+X% per annum) and Paraguay (-X% per annum).

In value terms, Argentina ($X) remains the leading foreign market for Uruguay crane exports, accounting for X% of total exports. In second place is Chile ($X) with X% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the value to Argentina has grown at an average annual rate of +X%.

Exports to other major destinations recorded the following average annual export growth rates: Chile (-X% per annum) and Paraguay (+X% per annum).

Uruguay crane import scale

Uruguay’s imports of cranes and mobile cranes from abroad increased for the third consecutive year, increasing by X% to X units in 2020. Overall, imports continued to grow representing a significant increase. Therefore, imports have peaked and may continue to grow in the short term.

In value terms, crane imports rose significantly to $X in 2020. Overall, imports showed a relatively stable trend pattern. 2016 saw the fastest growth, with imports increasing by X% year-on-year. As a result, imports peaked at X dollars. Import growth remained low between 2017 and 2020.

In 2020, Turkey (X units) was the largest crane supplier to Uruguay, accounting for X% of total imports. In addition, cranes imported from Turkey were four times higher than the number recorded by the second largest supplier, Italy (X units). China (X units) ranked third with X% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate from Turkey was relatively modest. The average annual growth rates of imports for the remaining suppliers are as follows: Italy (X% per annum) and China (X% per annum).

Brazil ($X), Spain ($X) and China ($X) are the largest crane suppliers to Uruguay by value, together accounting for X% of total imports. This was followed by Italy, Turkey and Colombia, which saw the highest growth in import value in terms of major suppliers during the period under review, while other leaders saw a more moderate pace of growth in purchases.

Brazil, Spain and China appear to be the largest crane suppliers to Uruguay by value, together accounting for 49% of total imports. It is followed by Italy, Turkey and Colombia, which together account for 9.3%.

In value terms, Argentina remains the main foreign market for Uruguay crane exports, accounting for 88% of total exports. In second place is Chile, with 11% of total exports.

The average export price of cranes in 2020 was USD 24,264 per unit, a decrease of -36.4% from the previous year.

The average import price of cranes in 2020 was USD 478,708 per unit, down -48.7% from the previous year.
