Portugal Overhead Cranes and Gantry Cranes Market Study 2022

 After four years of decline, Portugal’s haulage and overhead crane market is finally up to $X in 2021. During the period under review, however, consumption dropped significantly. Spain (X units), Senegal (X units) and France (X units) were the main destinations for Portuguese transport and overhead crane exports, together accounting for X% of total exports. Angola and Cameroon are slightly behind, with a further X-fold increase between 2012 and 2021, with Cameroon achieving the most significant shipment growth (+X%) among the major destination countries, while the other leaders experienced more moderate growth rates.

In value terms, Spain (USD X) remains the leading foreign market for Portuguese transport and overhead crane exports, accounting for X% of total exports. In second place is Angola ($X) with X% of total exports. It is followed by France with an X% share. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth in value to Spain totals +X%. Exports to other major destinations recorded the following average annual export growth rates: Angola (-X% per annum) and France (+X% per annum).

In 2021, Portugal’s imports of transport cranes, gantry cranes and bridge cranes soared to X units, an increase of X% over 2020. Overall, imports rose slightly. 2014 saw the fastest growth, with imports increasing by X% year-on-year. As a result, imports peaked at X units. Import growth will remain low between 2015 and 2021.

This was followed by Germany, Belgium, China and the Netherlands, which together accounted for further growth of X among the major suppliers during the period under review, with a CAGR of +X%, the highest among the major suppliers. Import value growth rates, while purchases by other leaders experienced more modest growth rates.

Statistics of various crane suppliers in Portugal

Austria, Italy and Spain are Portugal’s largest suppliers of transport and overhead cranes by value, accounting for 73% of total imports. This is followed by Germany, Belgium, China and the Netherlands, which together account for 26%.

In value terms, Spain remains the main foreign market for Portuguese transport and overhead crane exports, accounting for 47% of total exports. In second place is Angola, with 18% of total exports. It is followed by France with an 18% share.

In 2021, the average export price of transport cranes and overhead cranes is $1,762 per unit, down -6% from the previous year.

In 2021, the average import price of transport and overhead cranes will be $4,254 per unit, a 75% increase from the previous year.
